Gergis Ghobrial, MD, is certified by the American Board of Surgery and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. He has been in private practice in Southern California since 1997. He is an active member at Long Beach Memorial Medical Center where he served as Chief of Surgery and is a member of the Board of Trustees.
He graduated from Ain Shams University in Cairo, Egypt in 1981 with a Bachelor of Science degree and Doctorate of Medicine. In 1989, after completing a general surgery residency in Ireland, he moved to England where he practiced general surgery and trauma for 2 years.
In 1992, Dr. Ghobrial and family moved to Southern California where he completed a general surgery residency and a fellowship with emphasis on advanced laparoscopy and trauma/critical care at Martin Luther King Jr./Drew Medical Center. In 1998, he was appointed Assistant Professor in general surgery and held the responsibility of training medical students and surgical residents.
He loves to spend time with his wife, Aileen, and their five children. In his free time he enjoys traveling, gardening, cooking, fishing, and playing sports.
